PROJECT PORTFOLIO: Residence- Desnoyer Park, Saint Paul
Mid-Century Modernism is alive and well in Saint Paul! This home is situated a block away from East River Road and the Mississippi River in the Desnoyer Park neighborhood. Originally constructed between 1957 and 1958 on an odd-shaped lot at a cost of $20,000 dollars, the tilted-shed roof garage with clearestory windows was added later in the early 1970s. A truly modern dream inside, the home is complete with original yellow formica, marbled plastic tile and a knotty pine beamed ceiling. Long buff-colored Norman bricks anchor the fireplace which is the center point of the living space. The garden level recreation room is nearly complete with vintage green vinyl tile-- but serious connoisseurs of the fabulous fifties will find no bamboo-clad tiki bar in the basement. Current work includes refurbishing of the original kitchen cabinetry, rehabilitation of the lower level bathroom and new energy efficient windows. Wouldn't a '57-Chevy's tail fins parked outside compliment the home's triangular clearestory windows? That's swell!
